I have a website I sell products on. I also sell some of the same products on ebay. My pricing on these items are the same on ebay as my website. I track the daily visits on my website which some days are between 15-50 hits.
My website spells out everything online shoppers want to know, payment options, shipping, contact info, privacy policy.
I use paypal for payments. Paypal is widely reconigzed and trusted. So whats the problem??
I believe I have done most everything correctly, but I can’t sell items on my website.
Even with the amount of traffic I get, I barely get any sales.
The hits come in on the landing page and exit off the same page without moving around. The products are items people want and buy, I have proved that by selling on ebay.
Some of you will say just sell on ebay.Well I would like to try and have a successful website to make a little extra money on.

Here’s the problem. You did not tell us the website. So a very general suggestion many successful sites have a frame or border around the edge showing the products and prices and letting ppl click on the product picture for furtehr info. If your’s doesn’t at least have some product pictures on the landing page with a way to click through and order that seems like a very good place to start.

Hi all,
I’ve got a website set up, its about macs. It has links and downloads to various mac applications and it’s got a couple of beginners tutorials. Is there any one who has a similar website that would like help me out, maybe with a link exchange or similar? Also, does anyone know of anymore ways of obtaining traffic.

Your first most important issue is keywords. You should pay attention to what keywords (or key phrases) that people might be using to find the information in your site, and then each page should probably target a particular phrase. (You don’t have to pack the page full of the word or phrase, just be sure to use it a few times, especially in titles and headers.)
One place to get an idea of how good a keyword is, is Google’s tool (below) to help advertisers find good keywords. Your target is to find keywords that get between 1000-30,000 searches per month, because they have less competition, but still a healthy number of people searching. (Better to chose an “exact” match, rather the default “broad”.)
The other key thing is TIME. It takes time for a website to mature on the search engines. If you push it too far too fast, the search engines may even flag your site and put it in the “sandbox” – which isn’t as bad as a blacklist, but it can take ages to work your way out again.
One of your best tools for letting people know about your site is to put the link in your sig (signature file for your email and newsgroup postings) and forget about it. While people HATE it when you try to promote your website to them in forums and user groups, if you are a positive contributor to the group, people are likely to check out your site once they get to know you.
